Coconut is one of my favorite flavors, whether in candy, cookies or more savory dishes. It seems to be one of those things that you either love or hate. Consider me a lover.
I am a sucker for Easter candy for this reason. A few years ago I discovered the Coconut Hershey Kisses that are only available in the spring. Some people don’t really like the consistency of the coconut pieces, but I buy bags at a time, put them in the freezer and see how long they last.
At the store last week I saw that M&Ms had created a coconut flavor. Not sure of whether I’d like them, I passed on the large bag, but then I found them in the snack size.
Yum. From what I can tell it’s the usual chocolate shell and chocolate center, but with what I think is just a thin layer of coconut inside the shell. It’s a definite coconut taste, but it’s not overpowering and tastes only slightly different from the regular flavor.
Verdict? If you love coconut, they’re worth trying. If you don’t really like it, you won’t be offended if they’re mixed in with other flavors. I don’t think I’ll be stockpiling these, but if I’m buying candy, I’d likely get them again.
