My radio foray

I went on the radio show, Hotline with Nancy Greenwood, on WCCM 1110 am yesterday. Myself, Nancy, Bruce Arnold and several callers discussed the newspaper business, Methuen City Hall and crime in Lawrence.

Catching up with Mo Vaughn

Former Red Sox slugger Mo Vaughn called the newsroom late last week from New York City to weigh in on the recent theft of equipment from the South Lawrence East Little League. Vaughn said he planned to donate money to the league, which has received $11,000 from supporters across the country.

“King Joker” gets life

A jury just found Latin Kings gang member Christian “King Joker”
Almonte guilty of first degree murder in Superior Court.
Almonte, 26, was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
He was found guilty of murdering his secret lover Willie Escobar, a
41-year-old Methuen delivery man, stabbing him more than 20 times on Feb. 24, 2008.
