Want to learn more about the proposed Billerica Energy Center?

Thornton, N.H.-based developer DG Clean Power LLC hopes to build the  natural-gas-burning power plant at 134 Billerica Ave. in North Billerica, near the Tewksbury line.

The 348-megawatt plant would only be used during times of peak electricity consumption, such as heat waves and long periods of extreme cold.

But residents fearful of polution in Billerica, Tewksbury, Chelmsford, Lowell and Andover are actively fighting the project. Plans for the power plant will be refiled with the Billerica Conservation Commission in the fall.

Residents have created a Website to state their case against the proposal, billericapowerplant.org.

Creating that power plant is also a good reserve for worst natural cases. Too bad that residents is against to the proposal because of the waste of the proposed power plant emit if it is fully operational.
