090209_ET_CRU_CANCER SURVIVOR_3This may be the only time when parents actually encourage their children to sport pink or purple hair.

Nova Salon, at 595 Chickering Road, North Andover, will give people pink and purple hair extensions on Wednesday, May 6, for $10 with all proceeds going toward the cost of a new prosthetic leg for Justine Williams.

The fund-raiser runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Justine, 12, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her leg in October 2006.

She beat the cancer, but after eight painful surgical attempts at salvaging her leg failed, Justine decided to have her leg amputated back in January. She said she wanted to have a new beginning.

She is still learning to live with a prosthetic, but is making great progress. She will play her first softball game next week.

You can receive updates on Justine’s progress at www.carepages.com. Search “TheRoyalReport.”
