I’m having trouble reaching John O’Connor this morning because somebody else is carrying his cell phone at this point, and my two calls were not answered.
But I did reach O’Connor’s friend, Pete Bonaccorsi, who is on O’Connor’s team. Bonaccorsi said about 7:40 a.m., O’Connor was in Wellesley, heading to Hopkinton. O’Connor is on track to make it to the starting line of the Boston Marathon in time to start the race with all the other runners.
Bonaccorsi marveled at O’Connor’s athleticism.
“Pretty incredible, huh,” he said.
O’Connor is doing well and pacing himself. He’s walking up hills, and the final leg of his ultra marathon will probably take a little longer than the other ones, “but he’ll be fine,” Bonaccorsi said.
O’Connor has met up with other ultra runners along the way, and a crowd of supporters will cheer him on today.
See below to track O’Connor’s progress, starting late yesterday afternoon.
