We could list about a dozen, but I’m looking for one.
If the Celtics do “this” they will tomorrow night.
What is it?
I have a busy day chasing Celtics-related stories.
I will be talking to Denver Nuggets coach George Karl, whose son Koby Karl is a 25-year-old rookie, out of Boise State, with the Lakers. Karl coached Paul Pierce on the US National team that was embarrassed in 2002 in Indianapolis when the US finished sixth, losing … continued »

It was remarkable the Celtics even had a chance to win this game.
Paul Pierce was not himself and Rajon Rondo’s strength, this speed and quickness, were gone with his twisted ankle.
Still, the Celtics hung tough.
Here are some observations from the Lakers’ 87-81 win:
*Kevin Garnett needs open jumpers to be dominant. He had too many shots where he forced a shot with a guy, usually Pau Gasol, in his face. He is “money” if alone at … continued »

The referees bought what Phil Jackson was selling after Game 2. He moaned about the calls. Well, the refs apparently had their TV sets on NBA-TV and made sure to even things out.
The Lakers had 22 free throw attempts in the first half versus only seven for the C’s.
A few other thoughts:
*Paul Pierce was out of sorts from the opening tap. His fake 3-point attempts have been followed by bad ones. He hasn’t gotten to … continued »

I will be around to discuss thoughts and concerns heading into Game 3 beginning around 8:30 p.m.
Also check in at halftime for complaining or christening.
See you then.

In my opinion, the Lakers, or really the Western Conference, are fakers.
They are good. I will give them that with Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol. The problem is the Celtics are very good, maybe even great (I am leaning toward very good).
The problem is the Celtics are focused more on the prize. It means more to them — Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen … specifically — than it does to Lamar Odom or … continued »

Sam Cassell injured his wrist, with reports calling it a sprain. He is expected to return.
***
The Celtics lead at the half, 54-42.
A few keys:
*Kobe Bryant got his third foul with 1:53 remaining the half.
*Celtics Leon Powe scored eight points in seven minutes, getting nine foul shots.
*The Lakers definitely brought more grit to Game 2. They outrebounded the Celtics 19-17 in the half, with Vladamir Radmanovic leading the way with six and Lamar Odom … continued »
