Do you think the Boston Celtics will win Game 6 tonight?
I got that question about 20 times this morning.
Here’s my take on tonight:
The Lakers will play the best first half of the series (even better than Game 1). I believe they will go up about 15 to 20 points, sending the Staples Center into a frenzy.
But then the Celtics will claw their way back, primarily on the backs of Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen. I’m not sure if they will win the game, but it will be enough for them going forward in Game 7, if there is one.
As for why Ray Allen will play his best basketball in Los Angeles, I believe the pace of play will pick up and that fits Allen’s strengths. Many of his 3-pointers come off fast-breaks rather than the standard, homogenized half-court offense.
The Lakers will try to score in the 100s, which might work tonight. But it will also get Allen back his open 3-pointers.
Will the Celtics win? Maybe.
Will Ray Allen find his game and the Celtics eventually win the championship? Absolutely.
