This might be too big to overcome — a dislocated wrist.
Boston Bruins center David Krejci got the news late last night. His season is over.
Is the Bruins season over, or going to end sooner than several million New Englanders hoped.
Krejci will miss the rest of the playoffs, but is expected to make a full recovery … of course.
What happens now?
Well, Marc Savard returning to action couldn’t have come at a better time. We should probably expect Savard, also a centerman, to take Krejci’s spot with wingers Miroslav Satan and Milan Lucic. It appeared that Savard was going to take a winger position on the line with center Vladimir Sobotka and right wing Michael Ryder.
The first line, with center Patrice Bergeron and wingers Mark Recchi and Daniel Paille, probably will remain intact.
This hurts because Krejci is probably the best all-around player on the Bruins. More importantly, he has the ability to create offense out of nothing, be it passing or shooting.
This means Savard, particularly on the offensive end, will be asked to be his old self sooner rather than later.
Hey, the Bruins are always interesting.
