Why would a Boston Celtics fan want Larry Brown, one of the best pro basketball coaches ever, to jump ship from the Charlotte Bobcats and join the Philadelphia 76ers? Simple.
By that I mean Rasheed Wallace will have a home next season in Philadelphia. It would be a perfect fit as Brown is one of the last basketball people on this planet that “appreciates” Wallace. Add in the fact that Wallace is a Philadelphia native, well, everything fits like a glove.
It’s pretty obvious that Wallace isn’t going to work out here, no matter what happens in the playoffs. If Doc Rivers, a close buddy of Brown’s, leaves then all hell would break loose with Wallace.
In fact, we could blame Brown for signing off on Wallace coming to Boston. Remember, Brown coached Wallace to a championship in Detroit in 2004. Brown, who like Wallace was a former University of North Carolina star player, acquired Wallace from Portland and got him to buy into the Pistons program.
So basically, if you care about the Celtics you hope the rumor of Brown going to Philadelphia is legitimate, which I believe it is.
