A Brady-to-aaron Schobel touchdown hookup for 26 yards, woops, he’s on the other team. Kind of illustrates what we saw in this the first half.
three quick observations.
1. On both sides of the football, the Pats are trying to implement new things and it’s not pretty.
Belichick and Andover’s Bill O’Brien are intent to play out of this three tight end look, and clearly it’s like choking a thoroughbred who’s looking to fire at the top of the lane.
This marriage to the running game might be important come January, but for now the likes of Chris Baker and Ben Watson plodding downfield only clog things up for the athletes, Moss and Welker.
2. This team is in deep trouble defensively without Jerod Mayo. Belichick has built this 4-3 for Mayo. His injury status remains huge here.
3. We’ve seen nothing at all from the rookies Pat Chung, Darius Butler and Ron Brace. Sebastian Vollmer has been in the lineup when the Pats go three tight ends, moving Matt Light to an eligible spot.

What the Pats need to do to in the second half to win?
1. Let the greyhounds run, or in this case, catch. Welker and Moss to build the lead.
2. Again, let me repeat, enough with the conservative play calls. Open it up and take over.
3. Close with Freddie T. They brought Fred Taylor in to finish games. Let it happen.
