When is enough enough?
Reports are that the Philadelphia Eagles are in dicussions with animal rights groups in their area.
For what reason? What is the goal of the discussion?
Granted, Michael Vick is a lightning rod. He committed a heinous crime, which was illegally raising, abusing, and even killing pitbulls.
I can’t say enough how pathetic that was. The fact that he ran a gambling ring, shows how shallow he really was.
But he served his time and now it’s time to move on.
Do I want Michael Vick doing public announcements about cruelty to animals? No.
I want him to get on with this life and for a while that means playing football.
He’s got bigger fish to fry in his personal life with his own children, some of whom he hadn’t seen in a few years.
I give former Colts coach Tony Dungy a lot of credit for being a mentor when Vick doesn’t seem to have anybody he can count on in these difficult times.
But the bigger message here is to let Vick try and recoup some of his dignity and let the animal activists find another whipping boy.
I am on record as rooting for Vick to turn his life around and help others who have been so misguided at some point.
As I wrote before, taking a lot of criticism, I would have brought him here to New England.
