Trade proposals …

This is always an interesting topic. Most of the ones I receive are so off the wall that I don’t even respond.
But a reader — Dave from Methuen — just sent one my way that has me thinking.
Realizing Theo Epstein’s “thinking outside the box” and pulling off deals “we” aren’t even considering, Dave offered this one … Clay Buchholz, prospects, a 2004 World Series ring for Hanley Ramirez.
The ring part is a joke. But the other part isn’t. The Marlins would get three bonafide major leaguers and the Red Sox would get a bat and a shortstop, two needs.
Another thing to consider if the Sox get Roy Halladay. Don’t be surprised if the Sox take on a Vernon Wells or Alex Rios contract and deal away Jacoby Ellsbury.
Stay tuned. I’d love to know your thoughts.

    I like the Alex Rios idea.
    LOVE the Hanley Ramirez idea.
    If the Marlins just won't entertain the thought of Ramirez then perhaps expanding the Halliday deal to include Marco Scutero.
    He's got some miles but he's performing above-level and could be a stop-gap this year.
    Nick Green has also over achieved but it's just not enough for a big market team like Boston.

    Anyhow, I don't see Halliday moving. Interesting thoughts on Hanley. We do need a viable SS who can hit.

    You should write another column about how the Sox should hand Jason Bay a 5 year / $100 million contract 6 weeks into the regular season.

AS FAR AS RAMIREZ GOES, ARE YOU FORGETING THAT THE RED SOX GAVE HIM UP TO GET A FRONT LINE PITCHER AND WENT ON TO WIN 2 WORLD TITLES WITHOUT HIM? DAHHHHH. AND THE BIGGEST JOKE IS GETTING RID OF ELLSBURY. WHAT ARE YOU THINKING WITH DUDE?
