And I don’t mean for the execution.
I thought celebrations had to be a one-man affair. The Willhite, Meriweather and Co. dance after Jonathan Wilhite’s last interception has to be illegal by NFL rules.
I just wish somebody would step up and stop these guys, who aren’t good and especially aren’t anywhere near mediocre as celebrants.
Some other thoughts from the first half:
Matt light’s not back after what looked like a shoulder injury.
Can a guy, a former first-round pick, be cut at halftime? Ben Watson is horrendous. Another ugly drop kills a drive and represents the lone blemish on a superb half by Matt Cassel.
The Raiders, i don’t care what the record says, are the worst team in football. Yes, worse than the winless lions.
Halftime grades (No A+s because of the competition. It’s like me taking my son’s third grade spelling test).
Offense
line (A) … 28 offensive points, they run and pass, overwhelming the opposition.
backs (A) … Faulk is not this team’s MVP, but he’s the runner-up to Welker.
Receivers (A-) … Watson is pitiful. The rest fantabular.
QB (A) … Like the old Guiness commercials, “Brilliant!”
Defense (C+) … Not the impact I’d expect with the return of two starters. Still, they’re solid and probably still banged up.
Linebackers (C) … The Raiders have moved the ball a little, after a listless start.
Secondary (C) … No excuse for the TD
Special teams (C) … you can’t play even with Oakland, why didn’t they snap the ball immediately at the end of the half?
Coaching (B) … Dick Jauron couldn’t mess up this mismatch. Although, he’d try.
