The Patriots have made good on my prediction that it would be a field goal game, at least offensively until their final play of the half.
Matt Cassel’s best throw of the year, from 19 out, gets the home team back in it at 24-13. The throw was perfect.
Otherwise, when you kick 3s and the other team runs back the kickoff for 7s, it’s not good.
No show effort by the defense in the half, which allowed 7.5 yards a play to the New Yorkers.
Offensively, the 3s, just don’t add up as fast as 7s.
Offense
Line (D) … No running game, and the Jets took some good, clean shots on Matt Cassel. The jailbreak on 4th-and a couple late in the first half, which followed a 3rd-and-1 stuff on Heath Evans, is absolutely inexcusable.
Backs (C-) … Cassel is the lone running threat on the field.
Receivers (C-) … Jabar Gaffney is enjoying a field day. Wes Welker and Randy Moss look like its the first time they’ve ever seen press coverage.
QB (A) … Delivered under pressure when he had to.
Defense
Line (C-) … Missing Ty Warren is no excuse for getting shoved around.
Linebackers (D) … The only time we saw Mike Vrabel was when he was whining about a call.
Secondary (D) … Favre is 10 of 14 for 136 yards and two TDs
