Sox-Rays 3: Pedroia on an island
Oct 13th, 2008 by Bill Burt
Welcome to Pedroia Island.
The Red Sox second baseman is doing it alone here through five innings.
He has come up three times and doubled, singled and walked. David Ortiz came up after him each time and flew to right, popped up to shortstop and popped to short center field.
Ortiz has some company. The guy in front of Pedroia, Jacoby Ellsbury has flown out to all three outfield positions.
Pedroia was part of the game’s best defesive play when Kevin Youkilis faked a throw to first and caught B.J. Upton leaning on second base. Pedroia helped make the play by blocking the bag upon getting the throw from Youkilis.
Overall, the Red Sox have reached base six times with Pedroia getting three of those.
