Pedroia … 0-for-10 through five innings of Game 3
Oct 5th, 2008 by Bill Burt
While we have harped on the struggling Angels for much of the last five days, for obvious reasons (the Sox are up 2-0 in the series), we would be remiss to update you on Dustin Pedroia’s struggles.
There was no better example of that in the fifth inning of tonight’s game with Jacoby Ellsbury getting is second “lucky” hit of the evening (both should have been caught).
At 3-and-0, Pedroia took a questionable strike on the low, outside corner and then swung at a probable ball inside at his hands before hitting a harmless popup to the catcher.
It was not a good at-bat for the MVP hopeful. He has reached base three times in this series — two walks and one hit-by-pitch.
You can expect him to come up in the seventh or eighth inning in a big situation. Can we expect anything other than something good?
