First half grades … Like what I’m seeing, up 17-14
Oct 5th, 2008 by Bill Burt
Offense …
Line (B) … They’re mauling the Niners in the box. The Matt Cassel sacks have been on him, holding the ball too long.
Backs (C) … kevin Faulk saves this group again. Laurence Maroney continues the 3-second waltz every carry.
Receivers (B+) … Truly, I would love to give these guys an A, but as good as Welker and moss have been, they don’t run after the catch any more. Then, add in the fact that Ben Watson couldn’t matter less. Sorry. No A.
QB (B+) … Again, take away the two picks and it’s a big, big effort. And other than the snow and cold, I like New England winters.
Defense
Line (B) … After a slow start, you have to like what you see. Frank Gore has little room, especially on the downs that matter, like third and short.
Linebackers (B+) … With less to do, playing with a four-man front, they’ve been stout, stuffing the holes.
Secondary (B-) … Sorry, but EH III has been beaten for two TD passes. Again, after the horrid start, they’ve bounced back.
