If Angels reliever Scot Shields comes back for the 10th inning, he will be entering new territory.
He has already pitched 2 1/3 innings tonight. He did not pitch more than two innings in any outing in 2008.
Stay tuned.

While we have harped on the struggling Angels for much of the last five days, for obvious reasons (the Sox are up 2-0 in the series), we would be remiss to update you on Dustin Pedroia’s struggles.

Here are my final grades for the victory:
Offense
Line (B): They’re not exactly paving the way, but all these screens and draws and improvisation have them looking quite pretty. Solid, solid work.
Backs (B+): Kevin Faulk’s A+ … continued »

Here are 10 pregame notes worth mentioning:
1. The Angels are the first team since 1931 to win 100 games with a 100-RBI or 30-HR player.
2. In case you were wondering about successful playoff experience, the Angels have five players (Garret Anderson, John Lackey, Francisco Rodriguez, Scot Shields and Chone Figgins) who were members of the World Series championship team in 2002.
3. The Red Sox are 4-0 in playoff series against the Angels.
4. Heard this in … continued »
