You have to check out the big sports radio talk station in Indianapolis’ Website (www.wnde.com). They are waiting, breathlessly, for the Patriots to come to town and somebody from the station has dedicated a few dozen hours (my estimate) on basically hating the Patriots.
Some of it is funny, but some of it borders on crossing [...]

10 observations from sports world
Posted in Patriots, Red Sox, Uncategorized on Oct 28th, 2008 Comments
Here are a few thoughts about a busy sports world, particularly around here:
1. The Giants are No. 1.
Give the defending champs credit. They are a very good football team in a mediocre league. They go to Pittsburgh and beat the Steelers badly in the fourth quarter with the game on the line, this despite issues [...]
Pagiing Mr. Seymour, Mr. Vrabel, Mr. Hobbs, Mr. Thomas. New England, in a 16-16 tie, needs a big play on defense.
Somebody step up.
Welker’s catch here in the third quarter makes him the first player in NFL history to start a season with six catches or more in seven straight games.
An absolute gimme as you looked at the schedule has developed into an absolute dogfight, 13-10 at halftime.
The officials have truly helped out the Pats, with a phantom holding call, stunting one drive and a facemask flag picked up on another. The penalties for the half, three big ones on the Rams for 23 yards [...]
The Rams are here to fight, at least we’ll see a game now.

The Patriots miss Rodney Harrison, don’t they. At least when Ellis Hobbs got toasted on the long bombs with Roney there, it went for a 40-yard gain and Harrison made the tackle.
No such luck on the Bulger to Donnie Avery TD pass, the longest completion of Bulger’s NFL career makes it 10-7 St. Louis.
Note: I had a good week last week (12-2). I still have yet to feel confident about this league just yet. Anyway, here it goes …
Today
NEW ENGLAND 23, St. Louis 13 … In total control
Tampa Bay 27, DALLAS 20 … Cowboys are officially in trouble
Washington 31, DETROIT 16 … I won’t pick Lions yet
MIAMI 31, [...]
The Pats defense sets the tone for the afternoon, getting smacked in the mouth on a 12 play, 66-yard, 6:11 drive.
Once again, the home team starts in a hole at 3-0… Hey, at least the Rams didn’t punch it in, right?
Deltha O’Neal went out on a long completion, his status is questionable on a return [...]
Hector Longo and bill Burt ready to roll at Gillette stadium. Steven Jackson isn’t though.

The inactives have been announced and if you like good running back play, this is not your bag.
For the Rams, Steven Jackson misses the game, while Sammy Morris and Lamont Jordan are both inactive for the Pats, along with Matthew Slater, Lewis Sanders, Eric Alexander, Nick Kaczur, Jarvis Green and Shawn Crable.
Three quick keys to [...]
Rememeber, these rankings don’t focus solely on records or one-game winning streaks, like a lot of other power rankings to.
Here we go:
1. Nobody.
A copout? No, it’s the truth. There isn’t a best team in the NFL right now. There are a few teams that are close, but we might be two weeks away from figuring [...]
