You have to like Cassel as the Pats go 76 yards for a Stephen gostkowski field goal. Cassel looked sharp, not trying to do too much, hitting 4 of 5 for 61 yards. Couple quick points here: The Pats went semi-hurry up and went on quick counts. That was obviously a Belichick ploy to combat [...]

If you’re a momentum guy, the Jets moving down the field, stalling and missing a field goal has to bode well for the New Englanders, who got shoved around some. Jay Feely’s 31-yarder never had a chance. Here comes Matt Cassel. Interesting point here, Belichick has all five backs active for this one.

What time is it?

Game time, huh! Pats defer and kick off here. Favre looks sharp, the Jets look very good in the trenches. Eric Mangini sent the early note to Richard Seymour that the New Yorkers will run at him. So far, he’s failed.

The Pats defense bids for its third straight fourth-quarter hold. Key players here: Mike Vrabel … can he get to the QB when it matters most? Jerod Mayo … New England is doubling the deep outside, meaning Mayo might get some one on one with a back where Huard will attack if he’s patient.

A nice stop by the defense last series, highlighted by a Vrabel sack, and then Ellis Hobbs comes up with the play of the day, so far, picking off Damon Huard. What was Huard doing, trying to cram it into coverage? I don’t know. But the much-maligned Hobbs makes a spectacular play on the ball. [...]
