Brown:
Finished his career as the Patriots’ Patriots all-time leading receiver with 557 career receptions. He placed second on the franchise’s receiving yardage list with 6,366 yards.
Is the Patriots all-time leading receiver in the postseason with 58 catches in 20 playoff games. His 694 career receiving yards in the playoffs also rank first in franchise history.
Set what was then a franchise single-season record with 101 receptions in 2001. His 97 catches in 2002 stood as the second highest total in franchise history at the time. Wes Welker set a new team mark with 112 receptions in 2007.
Amassed a single-game franchise-record 16 catches vs. Kansas City (9/22/02). It also tied the fourth highest single game total in NFL history, shared with Keenan McCardell (10/20/96), Jerry Rice (10/20/94) and Sonny Randle (11/4/62).
Became the Patriots’ all-time receptions leader when he caught his 535th career pass in the third quarter against Indianapolis on Nov. 5, 2006. Brown passed Stanley Morgan’s old record of 534 receptions. Morgan had been the Patriots’ all-time receptions leader since Nov. 11, 1984, when he recorded his 293rd career catch to pass Gino Cappelletti’s then-record of 292 catches.
Became the second player in Patriots history to record 6,000 or more career receiving yards in a game against the Buffalo Bills on Sept. 10, 2006.
Grabbed his 500th career reception in a game at Kansas City on Nov. 27, 2005. Brown became just the second player in Patriots history to achieve the feat (Stanley Morgan).
Earned accolades for his defense, showing a level of versatility unmatched in recent NFL history. After injuries had taken a toll on the Patriots’ secondary, he pitched in as the team’s nickel back for the final nine games of the regular season and all three of the Patriots’ postseason contests. He reprised his role on defense in the 2005 playoffs, recording four solo tackles in a wild card round victory over Jacksonville (01/07/06).
Finished second on the team with three interceptions in the 2004 regular season and matched his reception total with 17 tackles on defense.
Became the only player in Patriots history to record a reception and an interception in the same game when he pulled the feat against Buffalo (11/14/04).
Compiled 321 receptions from 2000-03 are the highest four-year total in Patriots history. Tight end Ben Coates ranks second with a four-year total of 308 (1994-97).
Was voted an offensive captain by his teammates for five straight seasons (2002-06).
Finished his career as the Patriots all-time leading punt returner, topping the team’s all-time lists in returns (252) and yardage (2,625), and tying for the franchise record with three punt returns for touchdowns. He became the franchise’s all-time leading punt returner in 2002, surpassing Irving Fryar’s career total of 2,055 yards.
Became the first Patriot in club history to record three 80-catch seasons (97, 2002; 101, 2001; 83, 2000).
Recorded 13 career 100-yard receiving games during his 15-year career and finished his career tied for second in Patriots history in that category behind Stanley Morgan (39).
Played in 192 games during his 15-year Patriots career, placing him fourth on the team’s all-time games played list.
Earned his first trip to the Pro Bowl following the 2001 season and became just the third Patriots wide receiver to be selected to the Pro Bowl since 1970 (Stanley Morgan, 4 and Terry Glenn, 1).
Accumulated 1,199 receiving yards in 2001, a total that was then the second highest in franchise history (1,491-Stanley Morgan, 1986).
Recorded a 55-yard punt return for a score against Pittsburgh in the AFC Championship game (01/27/02). It was the first special teams return for a score in the playoffs in franchise history and was the first punt return for a score in AFC Championship game history.
Caught 83 passes and accumulated 944 receiving yards during the 2000 season. His 83 receptions were the seventh-highest single-season total in franchise history at the time.
