Matt Gutierrez does what Matt Cassel couldn’t, move his team down the field against the Eagles reserves.
Chad Jackson, let’s be positive, makes a pair of nice catches to step forward for the game’s “Patrick Pass Award” | that is the Patriot most impactful against the opposition’s scrubbinis.
Thanks for paying heed to my words over the last couple hours. The blog is now back in Bill Burt’s most able fingers.

Observations entering Tonight’s “Superbowl Rematch” -
*** For all the talk about how bad the O-line is, it’s when Cassel is under center that they look bad; with Gutierrez and O’Connell they play pretty well.
*** The defense may look like it’s getting pushed around but it isn’t giving up that many points - the Eagles did far more damage on kick returns than on overall offense, and the Ravens’ one TD came after a 52-yard punt return.
*** What strikes me most is how little effort the Patriots seem to put into these games - far less than normal preseason games. The Colts do the same thing - they suck in the preseason every year then turn it on.
*** There have been quite a few good teams from last year who look bad this preseason - the NY Giants haven’t shown much, especially Eli Manning; the Chargers let themselves get pushed around by a punchless St. Louis Rams and really had to reach down to beat Seattle; the Ravens lost their next two preseason games after the Patriots game.
