NBA Finals, Game 2: Pregame
Jun 8th, 2008 by Bill Burt
I just arrived and while the hoopla is down about two decibels outside the TD Banknorth Garden, it still feels like something special is about to happen.
The two coaches and commissioner David Stern will be holding press conferences.
I will have highlights from both.
I will be around before and during the game if you have any quesitons or comments.
I will be star searching. I’ve heard a few are supposed to be in town, including Shaquille O’Neal, who gets credit for giving Paul Pierce his nickname, “The Truth.”
As for my analysis for tonight’s game, I believe it will be a nail-biter, probably a one or two-point game.
The Lakers will match the Celtics intensity in the first half. I’m just not sure they can do it for 48 minutes. That’s where Kendrick Perkins comes in. If he’s in pain, the Celtics will be in trouble.
He has become a force on defense. And going against Pau Gasol is a matchup he likes, because Gasol doesn’t look for body contact.
Anyway, I will see if I Perkins is getting around OK. The same for Paul Pierce.
Stay tuned …
