The Pistons apparently will not waste any time replacing their head coaching vacancy (Flip Saunders was fired on Monday).
Assistant Michael Curry is expected to be named the new head coach on Friday.
The announcement is reportedly being withheld until the first game of the NBA Finals is played tomorrow night at the TD Banknorth Garden.
The only holdup is Curry’s contract negotiation, which is expected to be in the four-year, $20 million range.
Pistons GM Joe Dumas said yesterday that he will be making significant changes to the roster, with Rasheed Wallace believed to be at the top of his list. Another report also said that Chauney Billups might be the other significant player to be offered around the league.
