I’ve stated my opinion in today’s Eagle-Tribune – hang ‘em up Curt — and I’d like to know yours.
I believe this is a no-brainer. Curt Schilling turns 42 in November and by the time he pitches again he will be the back end of 42.
I also believe he has thoughts of the Hall of Fame and 225 wins, he may feel, might be enough, when added to his post-season career, to put him … continued »

Game 6 pregame

Game 1 of this series was huge in terms of excitement.
Tonight is bigger.
Anywhere within a quarter-mile of the TD Banknorth Garden rocked. Thousands, and I mean thousands of fans wearing something green or Celtics-related are roaming the streets awaiting the start of the game.
Every bar near the Garden had a one-hour wait or more. It really feels like something special is happening tonight.
It is 35 minutes before tapoff and the confines of the Garden … continued »

Game 5 follow …

Ten thoughts after Game 5 last night:
1. These NBA Finals with the Celtics and Lakers are starting to feel like Sox-Yankees games in relation to the length of the games. Last night’s Game 5 lasted exactly three hours. Games 1, 2 and 4 lasted 2:44 while Game 3 lasted 2:48. If you’re wondering if this a trend, no. Last year’s four-game sweep by the Spurs over the Cavs saw times of 2:28, 2:36, 2:38 and … continued »

The reason that’s important is it shows coaching adjustments.
Overall, the C’s were outscored only six out of the … continued »

The Celtics 97-91 win over the Lakers in Game 4 was special.
You could hand out MVP trophies to several people last night. Here would be my Top 5.
Paul Pierce: He literally willed the Celtics to a win in the finals. While his numbers (20 points, 4 rebounds, 7 assists) were close to Kobe Bryant’s (17 points, 4 rebounds, 10 assists), there is no doubt who the better player was. He made the key hoops in … continued »

Game 4 thoughts and notes

A few things on my mind heading into tonight’s game:
*Aren’t ABC, ESPN and the NBA being a tad disingenuous when they put the 8:30 p.m. time on the teasers for the NBA Finals games?
Sometimes it is noted that “coverage begins” at 8:30 p.m., but the point is they all realize 9 p.m. doesn’t look good.
*Rajon Rondo apparently has too much time on his hands during these finals. He has his own blog that … continued »
