Sox look like heros in money-for-coaches bruhaha

The Boston Red Sox are on a roll. And they haven’t played a game yet.
You have to give the players credit, standing up for their coaches, who were not going to be paid an extra stipend for their exhaustive trip to Japan.
The threat to not go to Japan, was just that, a threat. But Major League Baseball and Red Sox ownership didn’t want another day of bad press and relented, which was the right thing to do.
Nobody seems to be welcoming the long trip to Tokyo, especially with Josh Beckett staying home, but remember how the Celtics said their trip to Rome this fall was all about team building and the best part of their preseason.
Anyway, the Red Sox wield a lot of power these days. They are America’s baseball team no matter what Steinbrenner’s son says.
