Pacman Jones: Yea or nay?
Mar 12th, 2008 by Bill Burt
Your first inclination is probably like mine … No bleepin’ way … when it comes to a recent report that the Patriots might be interested in trading for Titans trouble-child Pacman Jones.
His many troubles seem to have centered around nightclubs, booze, guns, women and gangs.
The Patriots, especially right now with “Matt Walsh” hanging over their collective heads, don’t need this.
But … and this is a big but … for the right price this might be a gamble worth taking.
How about a fourth round pick and a one-year contract, similar to what they paid to Randy Moss.
If Jones fails at being a good teammate on or off the field, no harm is done. He will be cut.
The guess here is this guy may need a team like the Patriots more than they need him.
He, like Moss, is probably among the best cornerbacks and return specialist in the league.
I still have some figuring out here, but what do you think?

Dont like it. We are not a desperate team. He (pacman) will take Moss down with him. Then we will have nothing! He’s a punk!! It will be like a recovering drug addict having to live with a drug dealer. That hasnt been the Patriots way since the Krafts took office. Moss was worth the risk because he has HOF talent. Cant say the same about Pacman.
Whats up Bill? -

I have a friend who is a huge Titans fans and hates the Pats and he told me he is rooting for this move to happen. I think that says it all.

The deal is Pacman Jones hasn’t shown enough as a football player to warrant taking him. He made that kick return touchdown on the Patriots in 2006 and had a key interception against the Giants that same season - but what else has he done?
BTW, you had to mention Matt Walsh, didn’t you, Bill? My blood pressure just went up. He has nothing on the Patriots that they haven’t already acknowledged or Roger Goodell hasn’t already seen. There is no Rams walkthrough video because he never took one, because it’s impossible to tape an opponant’s walkthrough without being stopped by NFL or oppnant’s team or stadium security. He’s bluffing so he can get money/indemnity from the league.
The sports media is utlimately why this story won’t go away. They never examined the original Videogate rule properly - if they had there would have been more questioning of whether Goodell should have accepted Belichick’s interpretation of the rule than there has been - and they push any kind of gossip that’s against the Patriots. Their goal is to get Belichick blackballed out of football - because if it wasn’t, they’d have admitted that Belichick had a legitimate interpretation of the rule to begin with.
