Yes, this is a loaded question.
Yes, expectations for J.D. Drew and Julio Lugo are bigger than they were a year ago. At least that’s my opinion.
Both were whipping boys for their lack-luster performances at the plate. Lugo hit only .237 and walked only 48 times while Drew knocked in only 64 runs (9 fewer than Lugo) and missed his standard 20-plus games.

This is up for debate. I’ve heard everything from, “He’s a potential ace” to a “He’s over-rated.”
Well, we will get some answers and we will probably get them very quickly as Daisuke Matsuzaka is thrown in the first immediately.
With Josh Beckett still on the mend, though he will pitch on April 4 in Toronto, which will be the fifth game of the season, Dice-K’s early importance grows a bit.

While it has been a topic of discussion on the airwaves the last few days, I got confirmation today that the Patriots have “zero” interest in acquiring Adam “Pacman” Jones, the troubled cornerback of the Tennessee Titans who was suspended for the 2007 season.
Apparently rumors were circulated that the Patriots contacted Jones’ agent.
Not true. It never happened.
Word has it that Jones problems are much, much bigger than anything associated with Corey Dillon and Randy Moss. … continued »

I thought this was a no-brainer. In fact, I thought this back in September of 2007. But after the mail I got, mostly negative, when I inferred the Coco Crisp doesn’t have the makeup for playing in Boston, I wonder if I am going overboard on Jacoby Ellsbury. Honestly, I was shocked so many people felt so strongly about Coco.

More Game 1 thoughts

Here are some rambling thoughts about the opener:
1. It appears the players are having a great time, especially during the pregame, which Jerry Remy called one of the best “pregame” experiences he has ever seen.
2. While it was only one game, Dice-K looked as bad and as good as he looked a year ago.
