Jets making late push for Asante Samuel
Feb 29th, 2008 by Bill Burt
While Patriots free agent cornerback Asante Samuel is making a visit to Philadelphia this afternoon, word has come in that the Jets are making an offer as we speak for Samuel.
Samuels suitors were considered to be the Eagles, Buccanneers and Saints, with the Eagles offering $10 million per season and nearly $30 million guaranteed.
But the Jets, whose coach Eric Mangini coached Samuel, has entered the sweepstakes.
The Patriots offer is closer to $8 million per season.
Stay tuned.
