Asante Samuel is officially a Philadelphia Eagle. He agreed to a deal while visiting the Eagles facility this afternoon.
As expected it will average out to $10 million per season and about $30 million is guaranteed. There are other incentives included (interceptions) that could add about $7 million more in bonuses over the first three years.
The contract is six years overall covering just over $60 million.

While Patriots free agent cornerback Asante Samuel is making a visit to Philadelphia this afternoon, word has come in that the Jets are making an offer as we speak for Samuel.
Samuels suitors were considered to be the Eagles, Buccanneers and Saints, with the Eagles offering $10 million per season and nearly $30 million guaranteed.
But the Jets, whose coach Eric Mangini coached Samuel, has entered the sweepstakes.

Was there any question about Tedy Bruschi returning?
Maybe a little.
As one former Patriots player told me a few months ago, “He loves the game too much, still.”
Bruschi’s role will be an interesting one based on who Bill Belichick and Scott Pioli bring in for competition at the middle linebacker position.
It appears it’s time to go after a player in his mid to late 20s, one that Bruschi could groom.
