Tedy Bruschi and Rodney Harrison
Feb 7th, 2008 by Bill Burt
These two are not in the same position. Tedy Bruschi’s contract has expired and Rodney Harrison has another season left.
But both are near the end. The only question is “How close?” I guess there is another question, “Who would replace them.”
Right now, there are no replacements. Both were starters for a reason.
I’d be interested in your thoughts on both.
Remember, the Patriots have never drafted a linebacker before the fourth round in Bill Belichick’s reign. And the fact that Junior Seau is probably finished might mean the Patriots may revamp the entire inside linebacking position.
What are your thoughts on Bruschi and Harrison for 2008?

I would hope Rodney plays out his contract because his leadership and hitting ability is irreplaceable. I think it is more important for the Patriots to bring in an earlier round (#7) Linebacker to come in and make an immediate impact…hopefully someone like Patrick Willis (49ers) who led the entire NFL in tackles as a rookie this past year. The Linebacker area is the area we must address right now.If we dont sign Samuel, we must pick someone up via free agency. If we sign Samuel, franchise Moss and pick up a stud linebacker with our first pick…we will be back to the big game. Do you agree Bill our weak spot is at Linebacker?
