I’ve arrived at my seat and forget about the Patriots, as I said earlier this week, the University of Phoenix Stadium is perfect.
It really is.
As I sit here, in the corner of the “Giants” end zone, on the Patriots side of the field, the roof is closed with rain expected this afternoon, this place is vast. By that I mean everything is big and wide. Every view is perfect.
That being said, let’s get back to the point at hand: The Super Bowl.
I’m sure you would like to discuss the renewed “Spygate” report which came about after reports in the N.Y. Times and Boston Herald.
Pennsylvania senator Arlen Specter is apparently going to put this issue ahead of national security, poverty and our falling-apart roads and bridges.
At least he’s honest. He is still ticked about the Patriots Super Bowl win over his Eagles in Jacksonville three years ago.
Anyway, with Specter demanding — yes, demanding — to meet with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on Tuesday morning in his Washington, D.C. office, this story won’t be going away any time soon.
I will be sending tidbits as they come in.
If you have any questions or comments, I’m game.

I don’t get worked up that Arlen Specter is putting this ahead of “poverty and crumbling roads” since those issues are best left to the market and away from national politicians.

Bill, could this Matt Walsh thing turn into nothing but hot air? Nothing about this allegation makes sense -

The Patriots AND the NFL have flatly denied the Patriots videotaped Rams walkthroughs. The Rams HAVE NEVER MADE AN ALLEGATION to the contrary; they shot down the rumor that the Patriots taped their pregame practices before SB 36. And some people think Matt Walsh has video evidence, but why would he have it if he was working for the Patriots? He’d have turned over tape to the Patriots.

I thought until this broke that the Superbowl would be close and that the Patriots would win, but now they will be so enraged that the Giants are going to get destroyed.

    I’m predicting 56-17 Patriots.

    Mike
The fact that the Patriots “flatly” deny doing this, rather than letting it float in the wind like other “claims” and criticisms makes you wonder if Walsh is being completely honest.
Anyway, I would hope it didn’t happen, though I’ve heard that these kinds of things have always happened in the football, at all levels.
I can’t imagine Rams security allowing a camera to roll tape. I know it wouldn’t happen if the Patriots practicing because their security doesn’t stop hunting down people who might not be Patriots employees.
As for the game, it won’t matter one bit. I’ve heard the argument that the Pats will play harder because of it … I disagree. This is the Super Bowl. If the Patriots lose they will be among the biggest “chokes,” rightly or wrongly. And if they win, they will be viewed as one of, if not the all-time best.
There is too much at stake tonight.

In the end it came down to the ultimate intangiable – Eli Manning escaping a sure sack and launching a long bomb that the Giants caught deep in Patriots territory.
