Matt Walsh didn’t return my calls
Feb 2nd, 2008 by Bill Burt
I called the golf course where Matt Walsh works in Hawaii last night and one of the assistant pros was about to hand him the phone but I got, “I’m sorry. He is with a customer right now.”
I said I would hold, but was told it was too busy.
What are your initial thoughts about Walsh’s claims about the Patriots?

Can you even confirm when he worked with the Patriots? His wedding announcement in the ProJo contradicts the story he gave to ESPN (available on Google). It says he worked with the Patriots until January 2002 and then a year later got a job in NFL Europe.
Then again, his bio at his new job also contradicts the story he gave ESPN. Even they figured out he wasn’t on his college golf team, but he has claimed to have worked in all these different places when he claims he was jobless when he got a break with the Patriots.

This story struck me as implausible when the NFL said the Patriots didn’t do this and the Rams never claimed the Patriots had done anything. All it’s done is fired up the Patriots to where the Giants are going to get destroyed now.

It seems weird that all of this stuff is coming out now. If it was true then don’t you think we would have known about this earlier?
And anyway, it has been a rumor before but no evidence was ever found.

One other thing - reading Gregg Easterbrook’s piece on this, he talks about the Patriots stopping the Rams in the redzone “as if they knew what plays were coming.” The Patriots had played the Rams in November that year and made several mistakes en route to a 24-17 loss, but Mike Martz said after that game that the Patriots were a Superbowl-caliber team. The notion that they had to secretly tape Rams walkthroughs grows less credible.

Bill, if you can, post Walsh’s timeline of employment, because Dale Arnold pointed out his timeline would not put him in the team’s videography section at SB 36.

I knew Matt he did work for the patriots in 2002 and has a superbowl ring. The wedding annoucement was full of errors. He has to be one of the worst people I have ever met. He is a pathelogical liar….he just wants attention. If he was fired from the patriots for talking to other teams wouldnt another NFL team picked him up??? He went around telling everyone that he quit- well everyone can now see he was fired. The question remains as to why.
