Super Bowl: Friday notes … Pats almost 100 percent healthy
Feb 1st, 2008 by Bill Burt
Here are a few sights and scenes from downtown Phoenix:
***
Isn’t it a dream to play your last game and have everybody available with 100 percent (or some facsimile thereof) health?
Well, the Friday injury report is out and the only person on it — surprise, surprise — is Tom Brady, for his … wink! wink! … sore right shoulder.
Jabar Gaffney, who jammed his shoulder in the AFC Championship win over San Diego Chargers, was able to practice the entire three hours today.
***
Nomar Garciaparra and his wife, Mia Hamm, did some national interviews, including one with the NFL Network.
Unfortunately, the dynamic duo bolted out the side door and kept away from doing any one-on-ones near radio row.
Personally, I was going to interview Mia, anyway.

Jared Fogle, better known as Jared from “Subway” was floating around. After a brief conversation with him he said that he has an aunt and uncle who live in Andover, Mass., Rhonda Fogle and Alex Asch. Both are pediatricians in the North Shore.
“In fact, me and my sister used to go to Andover to visit ever summer for one week,” he said.
I will have a short story on him and his pick — Hint: he lives in Indianapolis — in the newspaper on Saturday.

Quote of the day:
Pats owner Robert Kraft when asked about the Sen. Arlen Specter’s questioning of NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell’s destroying of the “Spygate” tapes and requesting the information in a subcommittee hearing.
“People seem to look for publicity during Super Bowl week.”

Toms shoulder is sore from throwing too many TD passes. Now that they are 100% it can be very scary…for the Giants. We really missed Stephen Neal and Nick Kaczur (sp?) when we played them in week 16. Brady WILL be going to Disneyland…again!

I think people think this game will be a lot closer than it acually will be for 4 reasons.
1. The Pats want to go 19-0 and definatly want to be Super Bowl Champions again.
2. Last time we played the Giants 1 of their TD’s came on special teams because we got a 15 yard penalty and I don’t think that will happen again.
3. Maroney and Brady will have great games but Maroney will have one of (if not the) best game of not only the season but his career.
4. Last time we played them we were missing Stephen Neal, Nick Kaczur, and (the person that a lot of people don’t remember) Kyle Brady.
I don’t think that the Pats will kill the Giants but it definatly won’t be as close as lots of people think.

Hey Bill,
Weather.com is saying there’s a 50% chance of showers at kickoff, with a 60% chance of rain by game’s end. Will the dome be open or closed? When is that decision made? Do you think the Pats would prefer a closed dome, not risking wet conditions?
