It’s alive … the Super Bowl that is.
The fans have started to arrive, which means autograph hounds and scalpers, who have lined up outside the Phoenix Convention Center looking for current and former NFL stars, coaches and celebrities who are going in and out.
A few things from my visits to the Patriots and Giants hotels today:
1. Patriots won’t talk about the Giants comments. It’s not happening. Every Patriot, to a man, said nothing about Plaxico Burress’ prediction — a 23-17 Giants win.
2. The Giants don’t mind talking about it all. In fact, outspoken defensive end Michael Strahan stuck up for him: “What do you want him to say? You asked him a question and he answered it … He believes we’re going to win. I do, too. We all think we’re going to win. The Patriots think they’re going to win … It’s not a big deal.”
3. Tom Brady is by far the biggest star here. TV cameras are in front of his podium 30 minutes before his arrival. By the time Brady gets there, there are 100 or so media members, which means it is impossible to see or hear him. A few tables down, Logan Mankins sat alone for 10 minutes without getting a questioner.
4. I had great conversations with Patriots offensive assistant Bill O’Brien, an Andover native, who joined the team last spring. I will have that story tomorrow.
5. The Giants are loose. Give credit to Tom Coughlin, who has finally loosened up (more on that on Friday). They are ready for the Patriots.

Faces in the crowd: Ex-Giants quarterback and “The Batchelor” winner Jesse Palmer, Atlanta Falcons running back Warrick Dunn; Packers quarterback Brett Favre; CBS broadcaster and ex-Giants QB Phil Simms .
I will be checking in as the day goes on.
