Super bowl flavor: Day 1
Jan 28th, 2008 by Bill Burt
I’m here. I’m at the convention center, which is just across the street from our hotel.
It is starting to feel like a Super Bowl.
From estimates in the media credentials center more than 80 percent have already checked in by noon today.
In case you are wondering, the media needs to be here because our access to the teams peaks on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. After that, you are in trouble if you haven’t researched or talked to players and/or coaches by then.
So we have to be here early.
Anyway, the weather was perfect this morning, about 58 degrees. The locals were wearing semi-heavy jackets. I went for a quick jog with a T-shirt. It felt about 75 degrees to us northeasterners.
I had a great conversation with Andre Tippett and will have a column in tomorrow’s papers on his quest to go in the Hall of Fame. He told some funny and interesting stories about the dog-and-pony show he has to go through to see the voters.
I will check in a little later.
If you have any questions, bring them on. I will be checking throughout the day and night.
