Well, we have a game.
Before the half ended, after the 40 yard field by Nate Kaeding, Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers ran to the locker room, probably for a little medical attention. He has been limping a bit the entire game.
A few thoughts:
1. The Chargers are forcing the pass.
It is surprising, but Rivers is trying to throw the ball downfield. He hasn’t had a lot of success, but he’s trying. None of the longer passes … continued »

As the teams took the field from their respective locker rooms, Patriot Richard Seymour and Charger Marcus McNeil were seen arguing on the field, almost going face to face.
The two apparently know each other as McNeil, a left tackle, usually blocks Seymour, a right defensive end.
McNeil’s teammates pulled him away.
You may want to watch that matchup on the field today.

Some faces in the crowd:
Former Congressman Marty Meehan, who now leads the UMass-Lowell; Sox pitcher and Steelers fan Curt Schilling (apparently the Red Sox have a booth); Injured Patriots Rosevelt Colvin was walking through the media room to the Patriots players box. He had a brace, on rollers, supporting one of his knees while he walked with his other leg.

The inactives are out and it’s official. Chargers QB Philip Rivers is playing. In fact, he looks pretty mobile here on the field for pregame practice.
Running back LaDanian Tomlinson, the NFL’s leader in also looks fine during warmups.
Tight end Antonio Gates looked a little bit on the injured side, not as sharp on his breaks, but he appears to be close to 90 percent.
In other words, it’s the Pats best against the Chargers best.

It’s very cold and very windy. And it’s only 12:30 p.m.
You can expect the worst for the AFC Championship | lots of wind and bone-chilling temperatures | today.
Patriots punter Chris Hanson was out early punting balls and everything went hard toward the Patriots sidelines. The wind is swirling. It is not going to be easy throwing the ball more than 20 yards downfield.
