Pats-Jags pregame
Jan 12th, 2008 by Bill Burt
There is not a lot to report here other than traffic was a lot worse than usual, which means a lot of people got here earlier.
What usually takes an hour took almost 90 minutes from the Merrimack Valley.
A few things:
The weather isn’t perfect, but it’s close. It’s about 38 degrees on the field (according to weather.com it “feels like” 33 degrees) and there is no wind.
This is football weather.
It’s also tailgating weather, too, as the lots appears to me more full than normal which is probably only true because they opened earlier, as did about 50,000 fans.
Faces in the crowd: Lawrence native and Pebble Beach CEO Bill Perocchi is here with his son William, who is currently looking at schools in the east, his daughter Christine, a junior at Notre Dame, and his wife Nanci. Word has it they’re here for the game and will be back on the west coast some time tomorrow …. Ex-Vikings coach Dennis Green is here doing some national radio work. Remember, Green coached Randy Moss his first five years in the league with the Vikings.
Inactives: It’s official, Troy Brown will be playing tonight. He is on the active roster. The Patriots inactives are S Eugene Wilson, DB Antwain Spann, S Ray Ventrone, FB Kyle Eckel, OL Wesley Britt (he was at tight end blocking position for most of the Pats-Giants finale), OL Billy Yates and DL Rashad Moore.
With Rodney Harrison, who was hobbling for much the week, playing. You can expect to see him up in a linebacker position helping the run defense.
I will check if any pertinent info comes up …
