The NFL’s “Flex Schedule” is biting the Patriots again, this time their game against the Miami Dolphins in two weeks at Gillette Stadium.
The game time has been moved from 1 p.m. to 4:15 p.m., making a nationally-televised game.
This was only a formality in waiting as the country is enamored with the Patriots quest for an undefeated season. The interesting aspect here is the Dolphins might be 0-14 compared to the Patriots 14-0 (if the Pats beat the Jets).
Because the Patriots are playing at night on Sat., Dec. 27 against the N.Y. Giants, the Pats-Dolphins game could not be moved to the Sunday night game (NBC, 8 p.m.). Each team can only play six night games maximum. The Pats have played five night games thus far. Three Sunday night games (San Diego, Buffalo and Philadelphia) and two Monday night games (Cincinnati and Baltimore).
Trust me, they are tiring to play, never mind cover.

Shouldn't your little bio state you're the former executive sports editor? Just wondering.

  • I'm getting tired of all these night games for the Patriots as well. It seems everyone has forgotten the original goal of the Monday Night Football program - to showcase the league, not just the most popular teams. I understand the flex schedule's idea of getting better game for the Sunday Night package, but come on, let's get some more teams into the night package and let the Pats have some nights to get some postgame sleep.
