Late night (early morning) thoughts from Baltimore

Tedy Bruschi may have been right.
This is the way it’s going to be against good to decent teams, which the Eagles and Ravens have represented, at least recently.
The Patriots won 27-24 last night. It was crazy. They didn’t look good for most of the game but …
Tom Brady wasn’t sacked in the fourth quarter.
Willis McGahee had only four yards in the fourth quarter.
The Patriots scored 10 points in the fourth quarter against a pretty good Ravens defense, that was sky-high.
You get the picture?
The Patriots played their best at the key moments in the game.
I believe they have to use Laurence Maroney a little more, earlier in games. While he didn’t gain a lot of yards in the game (44), he had a few strong runs in the fourth quarter and one big reception (screen pass) that converted a 1st-and-20.
The naysayers will be out. They will make some good points.
The Patriots aren’t playing like the greatest team that ever lived, because right now they aren’t. But they have a month to find themselves and probably make history.
Do you believe I’m a little too positive after a so-so game in Baltimore?
They really did get beat up for big chunks of the game by the Ravens, and I’m wondering if teams like Dallas and Indianapolis think they could do more damage the second time around.
I will be back home in the afternoon to catch up.

    I think your optimism is appropriate. The mistake people make is trying to figure out what one team will do against another based on past performances. Pretty much every game is played in a vacuum, I don’t think any of the games have much to do with one another. It’s why a 4-8 team can beat a 8-4 team. I’m still VERY excited about this season, and last night just proved that the Pats can come through when they really need to.

    The Pats get every call , it is bogus . A real power house , they should have lost to the Eagles . The Eagles beat them up all over the field , then the refs and the one shot to the end zones on that last drive when they were in field goal range . They decide to go for the kill but a interception ends it . Not because the Pats are great because the Eagles got stupid . The same for the Ravens . They beat up the power punks , stomped on Brady , but the refs made a couple bad calls and allow a assistant coach to call a time out . “NOT ALLOWED” I only saw the replay but I didn’t hear a whitle before the ball was snapped . It looked to me that the ref saw that Brady and the Pats were to be stopped so he calls the time out after the snap . The league is getting much profit off this run and they are not going to allow it to be stopped until the playoffs if at all . I love the NFL but it is becoming entertainment . It’s all about where they can make money and right now New England is the place for that . It is all about who the NFL wants not who should be on top . MONEY MONEY MONEY $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ . How about When Seattle beat Pittsburgh 2 years ago , But the calls where disgusting so that Jerome Bettis could leave the game a hero and last year The Peyton Manning show . Tom Brady is a mediocore QB who is for some reason the NFL icon . Also when if you watch the big baby , when the game is not going his way he is a Dan Marino replica . CRY CRY CRY . I’ll give 5 qb’s that Brady is not even compairable to , forget Montana he can’t hold his jock . Steve Young much better!!! Jim kelly ,Dan Marino, Troy Aikman , Doug Flutie ” if they gave his a chance ” so the 5th is john Elway . Tom Brady M.V.P. 2001 Super Bowl . O.K. 145 yards 1td and 1 int. What a joke . Can you say Adam Vinateri !!!!!!!!!!!!! Should have 2 Super Bowl M.V.P.’s
