Pick the Patriots-Colts game. Give me a short description why. And the winner will get an “I Beat Burt” T-shirt (a contest we’ve been running at the newspaper for more than a decade).
For example, if someone picks Pats 38-14 and the final score is 41-31, that would be 20 points away (3 Pats, 17 Colts).
Give it a shot. I’ll be interested in scores and brief analysis.

Last year, with Jabar Gaffney as their number-one wide receiver, the Patriots fell just short of beating the Colts in Indianapolis. This year, Gaffney is number four on the depth chart. If the Colts could barely stop New England last year, how are they going to stop Randy Moss, Donte Stallworth and Wes Welker? The Patriots have too many weapons this year and should win convincingly.

I believe the Colts are going to make this closer than people think. The Colts have the Patriots number. Don't discount that fact. I believe the key will be Manning going against the Patriots defense, which he officially owns. I will choose the Colts because I believe nobody else, will.

Hey, I am in the running, too. I believe the Patriots defense will steal the show. Lost in this run is their dominance on the defensive side. Most of the points allowed are when the game is long gone, in the fourth quarter.
Also, trust me on this one, Belichick has been working on this gameplan for 10 months.
I think the Colts will make the Patriots throw long to Moss, believe it or not, and try to stop their moving-the-chains guy, Wes Welker. Expect a big game, maybe the best of his career, out of Moss.
  • Peter from Middleton, the Colts may have had the old Patriots' number, but that doesn't mean anything after the complete offensive overhaul that the Patriots underwent this offseason.

    Pats 34 Colts 24

Colts struggle without Harrison on offense and haven't been the defensive force that the Pats have all year.

(of course, if the Colts are up 10-0 after the first quarter, all bets are OFF)

The pats had the colts beat in the AFC championship game when their defense fell asleep and let the colts back into the game. Since then they're upgraded their defense. Think Tedy Bruschi lets the defense coast in this one?

The pats almost won that game in the end too, until Reche Caldwell dropped a sure winning touchdown like it was a live ferret. Think Randy Moss drops that ball? Wes Welker?

The pats have improved too much and are looking for blood. They are by far the best team in the NFL and have had this game circled since January.
