I made mine in The Eagle-Tribune today. I say, as the fans chanted on the field after the Game 4 clincher in Denver, “Don’t sign A-Rod!”
A few years ago, it was different. The Red Sox, it could have been argued, needed a guy like A-Rod to get the Red Sox over the top.
In my mind, no more.
Alex Rodriguez is high maintenance. He requires special treatment. And that’s not going to work around here.
As for Mike Lowell, it will cost a lot of money for a guy whose career is closer to the end than the start. But he personifies what this team is about, winning.
With the influx of young players, it doesn’t hurt having him around. He is as professional as professional can get.
And, oh yes, he just had the best season of his life. And, oh yes, he can handle playing in Boston.
I say Lowell.
What do you say?
