It wasn’t the sight that 100 or so media members wanted to see, but the Red Sox clubhouse was near empty for the 30-minute interval set aside for media access before tonight’s game.
During the playoffs, there is no media access in the clubhouse before a game. But that rule was lifted because everything, especially batting practice, was moved indoors.
There was one problem. Only three players, Mike Timlin, Bobby Kielty and Manny Delcarmen, were available the last 10 minutes.
Someone from the Sox said the players were at batting practice and the pitchers were on the field throwing.
What do we make of it? Well, it doesn’t matter to the fans. They want to win games, period. But it doesn’t look good with the team down, 2-1, in the series with the momentum swing clearly on the other side.
Coming into the clubhouse for a five-minute intervals would have sufficed.
