Here is Terry Francona’s response to the question about if he considered replacing Tim Wakefield with Josh Beckett for tonight’s game:
“I can’t believe somebody asked me that,” said Francona. “Yeah, I think what we considered was trying to put our ballclub in the best position to win the series, and there’s a lot of different reasons why we feel like that. Some of it concerns Josh, some of it concerns the guys behind him … Now, certainly when you get down towards the end of the series and there are no more games to play, it’s all hands on deck. I understand that. But right now this is the way we set it up and we set it up for a reason, and hopefully it will pay off.”
