A few thoughts on last night’s Game 3
Oct 16th, 2007 by Bill Burt
Here are a few observations from last night’s Game 3:
1. Even though the game was close, it felt like a blowout. Sox hitters were behind on the count almost all night. It made a 4-0 and 4-2 lead appear insurmountable, which it isn’t.
2. Just like the Red Sox do in Boston, the Indians play off their fans. Maybe that’s why last night “felt” like a blowout.
3. As I noted last night, Jacobs Field is great. The backdrop of the city behind the outfield is picturesqe. The insides of the facility have a lot of similar characteristics of Gillette with wider walk ways and very clean.
4. Coco Crisp and J.D. Drew need to do something out of the Kenny Lofton Handbook. Drew had a late single, later scoring on Jason Varitek’s homer, but it was too little, too late. And Crisp looks like he is guessing at the plate.
5. Dice-K was a mess after the game. He only released a statement rather than meeting with the media. It was later intimated the losing pitchers in Japan usually don’t speak to the media. Somebody has to inform Mr. Dice-K that doesn’t cut it here, especially in Boston.
That’s it for now. I am heading to Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio with a few of media guys. I will report on that and get back to you later.
I will be at the park at 5 p.m. ready, willing and able to do some live blogging on sights and sounds. Send me any questions, thoughts or concerns you have.
Take care.
