Who would you draft … and why?
Jun 28th, 2007 by Bill Burt
The NBA Draft is tonight and to be honest, I’m thinking better of that fifth pick than I thought a month ago.
Anyway, the Celtics will have a lot on their plate over the next six or seven hours, with teams calling about Al Jefferson, the No. 5 pick, Gerald Green or even Paul Pierce (more on him in another post).
What are your thoughts about the draft pick? Keep or trade.
Unless we’re talking Kobe Bryant here, I’m not dealing. I’m picking. One of these guys might be a secondary star, which isn’t a bad thing. I realize the Celtics have to get some veteran presence, but at what expense … and which veteran are we talking about.
I’m leaning toward Yi Jianlian, the 7-foot Chinese athletic forward or Mike Conley, of Ohio State, a true point guard. Guys like Corey Brewer (Florida) and Jeff Green (Georgetown) are intriguing, but they are copies of what the Celtics already have. Yi might be the third best player and Conley is the best point guard, which I believe is the biggest hole on this team.
What are your thoughts?
I will also be posting after tonight’s draft with comments, thoughts and answers to any questions.

I’d trade the pick as long as the players the Celtics package do not have “Pierce” or “Jefferson” on the back of their jerseys. Ray Allen to the Celtics for #5 and Theo? I’ll drive Theo to the airport myself and gladly pay the tolls along the way.
But it sounds like Danny is going to take the 5th. I like Noah’s tenacity, but he’s a #7-12 pick. I like Horford’s style, but he’s not going to be there at 5. Yi? The International Man of Mystery. Sounds like he’s going to wear green next year. Let’s hope he’s Dirk and not Wang ZhiZhi. -

I’m confused. For years Michael Muldoon has done the majority of the Celtics coverage. So why isn’t he the one blogging about the draft?
All of the other newspaper bloggers from around Boston are reporters who cover the team on a full-time basis.
I think I’ll respond to them until someone with some real knowledge about the team starts blogging here.
