It was bound to happen in August or at the very least September, but let’s be honest, the leadoff position has been a gorilla on the Red Sox backs and apparently it’s time to see if Jacoby Ellsbury is ready.

The Sox announced earlier today that Ellsbury was being called up from Pawtucket to fill the void left by Joel Pineiro’s ankle sprain (wink! … wink!).

The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder lefthanded batter — I didn’t realize he was … continued »

I’m confused. Ray Allen is a shooting guard, a great one. Paul Pierce is a shooting forward, probably a great one. Is this the veteran the Celtics believe will lead them to two levels from where they are now?

I hope so.

This is a bold move and I like bold moves. But they had better work. This will make the Celtics offense better, which was a major problem, especially when Pierce fell to injury. But will … continued »

But Curt Schilling’s shoulder — he will have an MRI tomorrow — is something to be concerned about. He is a No. … continued »

It was a great idea. I remember buying the inception and even the first year.
I remember the Red Sox first series, against the lowly Phillies, and saying “wow, I care about a Phillies game.”
I am not saying “wow” anymore.
Neither are the players. Remember the Atlanta Braves coming to Fenway a few weeks ago? Instead of being exited to play baseball’s hottest team, Braves players were complaining about having to play the Red Sox every … continued »
