A month into the season and your Red Sox are now 18-9, best in the American League. The strength of this team in pitching, and David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez.
There are concerns, some in hiding because of the strengths.
I want to know what your biggest concerns are.
- Dustin Pedroia. He just doesn’t look good at the plate. At some time, he’s going to have produce or get his confidence back with Pawtucket.
- Defense. Other than Coco Crisp, there is not a Gold Glove caliber vote getter. Julio Lugo didn’t look good last night and luckily the Sox were able to overcome his miscues in the first inning.
- No. 5 starter. You know things are going very well when this is on the list. Julian Tavarez has been OK. But is that good enough?
- Dice-K. Is he in for a tougher time than many of us thought?
- Nothing. Maybe there is nothing wrong other than a few guys in a slump. At 18-9, we should not even think of whining.
Let me know what you think. I’ll respond accordingly, especially the ones I like and dislike.
