Even if you add in Lester, Bowden or Buchholz, it’s still not enough. It doesn’t matter that they’re trading five players for one. They’re not giving up enough in value, not even close. Any trade for Cabrera (who, as far as I know, is still arbitration-eligible for a few more years) would have to include probably least three of Lester, Hansen, Cox, Bowden, Buchholz and Bard.

I don’t know if I’m in the minority here but I don’t think this has a snowball’s chance in hell of happening. Your “reliable source” seems to be grasping for straws, but I could be wrong.

It seems we’ve heard very little about new hitting coach Dave Magadan. While it is obviously early in the season, today’s pathetic offensive showing against TEX, and in particular Papi’s troubles these past games, have me wondering how well the players are settling in with Magadan and particularly without Ron Jackson. I recall that Ortiz was particularly close to Papa Jack.
