Why wasn’t Jim Lonborg, the ace during the incredible Impossible Dream season, at the ceremony honoring the 1967 Red Sox on Opening Day?
Is Drew Bledsoe, the recently retired ex-Patriots quarterback, a Hall of Famer?
What are local pro baseball scouts saying about North Andover High’s rags-to-riches pitcher and probable early draft choice Mike Hashem?

News flash: Bill Burt enters blog world
Posted in Local Scene, Patriots, Red Sox on Apr 30th, 2007 Comments
In case anybody is interested, archived posts from our popular “Bradford on Baseball” blog will still be available on this blog. Former Eagle-Tribune baseball writer Rob Bradford started the blog at the beginning of spring training through the last week of April.
Enjoy.
I was trying to think of a time when the Red Sox entered a Yankees series with as much optimism as there will be this weekend, based primarily on the set-up of Boston’s starting rotation. Considering the Sox pitchers have now gone nine straight games without giving up more than three runs (the longest since [...]
Alex Cora joined Manny Ramirez in serving as today’s Red Sox hero. It was Manny who hit the game-tying home run, but Cora who supplied the game-winner via a triple to the left-center field gap.
Cora has shown a real good approach thus far this season in his limited at-bats. After teaming with Alex Gonzalez to [...]
The blood has started to re-emerge in my legs and fingers after a horrific 26.2 miles the other day and I am ready to jump back aboard the blogging bandwagon. (In summary, I think I going to start concentrating on getting a fake ID for Masters sprint competitions.)
Along with the marathon the week has also [...]
Am getting ready to hit the hay in anticipation of running 26.2 miles in a washing machine tomorrow, but wanted to weigh in on Curt Schilling’s outing yesterday.
If anybody wanted to see how Schilling’s attempt at morphing into a 40-something starter, just take a look at yesterday’s outing. Sure, it was easy to see [...]
We have an answer.
Find out here.
One of the interesting notes I got out of this subject was where Papelbon releases the ball. As pitching coach John Farrell points out when he lets go of the ball it is directly out in front of his body, which often can blend in with the uniform.
It’s raining at Fenway Park (sorry to let you down). Actually (as you know by now) it was raining enough to save all tickets for May 3.
Ran into one of Manny Ramirez’s agents, Gene Mato, and he was relaying a couple of items: 1. He hasn’t seen Manny this happy playing in Boston in a [...]

“Goulet!!!!!!!”
First it was Wil Ferrell imitating Robert Goulet just prior to throwing out the first pitch at Fenway Park, and now the Lawrence born crooner is actually here, ready to sing something. Oh yeah, the 1967 Red Sox are also ready to be honored.
The Goulet [...]
Am going to list a lengthy post later in this my wife’s birthday (so you can see why a bit of delay). Any questions that have been asked over the recent period of my own negligence will be answered.
Until, then, let’s discuss why Jonathan Papelbon can throw a 94-96 mph fastball that hitters have absolutely [...]
